There are of course some compromises in going this light and tall in a metal tripod with a small ball head and small QR plate: The QR plates are very small and this are no fuss to just leave attached to most bodies. ![]() It is just about perfectly matched to *most* m43 bodies and lenses if being careful about setup. The feature set with reversible column and wide stretching legs is excellent - very versatile. It is a wonderful tripod for what it is - compact, light and surprisingly tall for its size. I've got the same QR ball-head on mine as the current version. I've shot extensively with a previous version of the Sprint Pro which is essentially identical except for lacking the foam padding. Speaking of which, have you every carried your Sprint Pro onto a plane? I've only ever packed mine in a check-in bag but for an upcoming trip, I'm trying to stick to carry-on only and wonder if I will have a problem bringing it through TSA screening. I am careful, though, to use the electronic shutter and a timer release or a remote release to avoid initial vibrations.įor my infrequent uses, it doesn't make sense for me to bring my larger tripod on any trip that involves flying. I haven't tried it with my 35-100/2.8 yet but I expect it to be fine. I can say, though, that it has been very good with my micro four thirds cameras and my wide to short tele focal length primes and zooms. Unfortunately, I don't have the 40-150 or 100-300 so I can't speak to how stable they are on the Sprint Pro. I've got the mk I version which means it has no quick disconnect plate. Any other suggestions for a light and tall travel tripod? I understand that cheap and light tripods are not as stable as heavy expensive ones but how far do you suppose turning on the dual-IS on a GX8 and a 100-400mm take me?ģ. ![]() What are your experiences using the Slik with the Oly 40-150 and the Panny 100-300? They are under the advertised 2kg weight limit.Ģ. ![]() I have been looking around for a "good enough" affordable tripod and I'm thinking of getting the Slik Sprint Pro II: It's cheap, light, tall, and fairly stable I think.ġ.
